Verona-based Happycentro have been doing some interesting things with origami recently. The Italian studio were recently asked to design and produce a unique invitation for the opening of Louis Vuitton’s Osaka store in Japan. The result is a paper object featuring complex origami folds and a variety of printing and foil/film blocking techniques. Take a look at their behind-the-scenes video for a glimpse into the production.
The project follows a series of other recent forays into the joys of working with paper, as can be seen with their submission for Gallery Nucleus’ Illustrated Type exhibition last year and their winning Milano Design Week entry; a polygonal heart piece for Hyundai.
Happycentro describe their process: “Our formula for beauty is mixing complexity, order and fatigue. We like contamination between creative disciplines and diversity in general. We don’t like doing the same thing twice, and prefer going further what we’re already able to do. It is tiring but satisfying.”
An approach that is as well executed as it is original and interesting.
