<p>Recently at <a href="http://www.profission.com/" target="_blank">Profission</a> we&#8217;ve been beavering away on a brand new site for emerging production music agency <a href="http://www.cinephonix.com/" target="_blank">Cinephonix</a>, and we&#8217;re very pleased with the result. The site features a unique track filtering system aimed at providing the user with the perfect track &#8211; the filters react to the choices the user makes, removing incompatible options and reducing the huge library of tracks down to the most relevant items.</p>
<p>Backed by an instinctive search system and themed playlists prepared by the administrators at <a href="http://www.cinephonix.com/" target="_blank">Cinephonix</a>, the site is geared towards giving users searching for production music an opportunity to experience the library in their own way, at their own pace. With staff picks, features on composers and a very comprehensive knowledge base this young upstart is set to face its more-established rivals straight-on and bloody a few noses.</p>

We took over the Unicorn Group account at the end of 2008, and have redesigned web presences for their two flagship brands from the foundations up.</span></p>

<p>After our very recent product range update to Gunn &#038; Moore&#8217;s website i thought it time for a quick statistical recap to take a look at how the new site has fared since its inception. We took over the Unicorn Group account at the end of 2008, and have redesigned web presences for their two flagship brands from the foundations up.</p>
<p>Concerned that external e-commerce sites were gaining considerably better SEO positioning with its own products than the brand could manage through its sites, Unicorn wanted to focus on creating a simpler, more direct product range on their site that required less clicks to navigate and resulted in a much less linear experience with more cross-linking between products, and to other areas of the site. Backed up with information on the technical merits of their products, and a solid community offering which heralds their team &#8211; from world champion and international sportsmen to budding talent &#8211; the two sites would aim at capturing an audience with an interest in the sports and turn them into loyal followers of the brands. </p>
<p>The time between taking on the Gunn &#038; Moore account and redesigning the site has afforded us a years worth of statistical information. Generally, more than 70% of traffic to the site comes from search engines, and almost all search terms focus on variations of the company name. Most of the site visitors are unique, with only 35% of visitors returning more than once. </p>
<p>We uploaded the new platform and with it, the 2010 range, at the end of February 2010. Concerned that, historically, GM&#8217;s dealer base have been able to publish their range online faster and to larger audiences than their own site could do, the brand has now decided to bring forward its public range announcement to match announcement dates for dealers, hence the October release of the 2011 range.</p>
<p>Profission added standard good-practice features to the site and its bespoke content-management system, such as full URL masking, better content association, clearer linking across the site and considerably more product and team association. Our goal for this initial stage was to develop a completely new platform to contain exactly the same content as the original site and show how a considered, coherent site backed up with solid standards-compliant code could bring Gunn &#038; Moore&#8217;s brand ownership back and ensure a better experience.</p>
<p>The statistics show us that literally over a period of a day, with no public attention or increase in inbound links from referrers, viewers were spending longer on the site and finding more information to browse. Consequently the Bounce Rate drops to a healthy 33% as viewers coming in from search engines are exploring.</p>
<p>Over the entire period we see a steady increase in traffic to the site, and in particular traffic from search engines as Gunn &#038; Moore slowly start to gain ownership of search terms that other sites have enjoyed and we start to see results for new products as well as terms surrounding the company. On this side of the curtain we must obviously communicate and preach the benefits of considered design and production at all stages of the project build and deployment, but it is sometimes difficult to manage clients expectations and illustrate why doing something properly is better in the long run than doing things quickly.</p>

Using a custom version of Didot to float two words together the logotype aims to show simplicity and balance. A contrasting slash is added to the negative space when the logotype is used in isolation.</span></p>

BuyGB has been a concept in the planning for a little while now and work on the project started towards the end of last year on building what has now become quite a complex and far-reaching online proposition. With Spring in the air the marketplace for this project is burgeoning and general interest in buying and producing local is increasing month on month. As we gear up for the beta launch Marketing Week have included us in their <a href="http://www.marketingweek.co.uk/in-depth-analysis/cover-stories/local-strategies-for-local-people/3012218.article" target="_blank">Local Strategies for Local People feature</a>.</span></p>

<p>As the brand beds in, the &#8216;tag&#8217; iconic will become the visual logo focus for the company, and in some cases can be used exclusively, without the typographic part of the identity, which naturally rests to the left of tag, and more personalises the identity.</p>
